When the Nordmeer needed structural repairs and a full hull valve survey in early 2018, the ideal place to go for her ship maintenance was Ship Repair, located on Port Road in Whangarei Harbour.
The Nordmeer had been out of service and tied along main 1 wharf for the last eight years.
Ship Repair has amongst its facilities a commercial wharf complete with crane, engineering workshops and a 2000 tonne capacity, so hauling theNordmeer onto the slipway was easily achieved.
Ship Repair carried out a full shaft and rudder survey, a full hull valve survey as well as some structural repairs. The team then cut an access hole into the starboard side and two new generators were lifted into position and installed.
A 90% strip of the underwater hull paint was carried out. The underwater hull paint was then replaced with a new paint system and the blue paint of the topsides was given a full coat tidy up.
