When the owners of the 20-metre trawler Bilyara needed new stabiliser wings, they brought the vessel to Ship Repair, one of the country’s most trusted names in marine repair. Stability is essential for the Bilyara, a vessel which is almost always hard at work trawling for scampi in the turbulent Southern Ocean. Smooth sailing is important not only for the crew aboard the trawler, but for the shareholders, customers and everybody else depending on the ship collecting its haul in a timely manner.
Fixing on new state of the art wings to dampen the roll of the vessel involved the experts at Ship Repair cutting slot boxes out of the hull plates. The new stabiliser wings were placed on the port and starboard sides of the Bilyara. We utilised the expertise of our marine fabrication and heavy engineering experts, supplying quality work with trusty welding at our reliable slipway in the calm waters of Whangarei Harbour. After this, we carried out a general touch-up and tidy of the hull and deck paint systems then sent the Bilyara back out to sea with confidence.
Thanks must go out to Derek and the team from Industrial Rebuilds for their assistance throughout the project.
