Barge AMS Gladstone

Heron Ship Repair set 210ft barge, AMS Gladstone, up for a piling contract in December 2018 and completed in January. Containers for an office and a lunch room were installed, and crane sea-fastening for a 400T crane was fabricated and also installed. Pile gates were fixed to the side of the barge and an on-board power system was established.

The 70ft wide AMS Gladstone will be utilised as a crane barge during construction of the America’s Cup facilities for 2021.

Deep Water Port

Located in the calm, sheltered waters of Whangarei Harbour – we are one of only four deep water ports in New Zealand. We have a large slipway for vessels up to 1800 tonne which often handles two ships at once, as well as a second 40 tonne slipway for smaller vessels.

Sheltered Harbour

Facilities onsite include showers & toilets for crew, a fully equipped office with internet access, and easy access to Whangarei CBD. We can arrange rental vehicles, accommodation, sort out crew visas and permits and look after you during your time ashore.
